    The Need

For the underinsured and uninsured, access to prescribed medication is unaffordable for many individuals and families.

    Actions
The Caring Community Network participates in the MedBridge Program, as the local site for application and eligibility determination of residents in the twelve towns of the Twins Rivers. The MedBridge Program provides discounts on prescription drugs through special arrangements that have been made directly with participating pharmaceutical companies. HealthFirst Family Care Center is the access point for the region in this Statewide program.

As a Federally Qualified Health Center, HeathFirst Family Care Center is eligible to partipate in an additional discounting program for pharmaceuticals. This program will give greater discounts on a wider range of medications. The program is under development currently.

    Involvement
The MedBridge Program provides the discount programming for the region, and the staff for the program are supported by the Federally Qualified Health Center Grant.
